Can my boss change my schedule one day before without telling me?

Question

On the weekend the only day i work is sunday.
It is outlined on my contract that i wont be required more then the 5 days I am working.
Yesterday I saw that my schedule had been changed for this week only saying that I have to work a double shift Saturday.
I know I will have to work it because a lot of people are going on holiday but I am tempted not to turn up.
They didnt ask me to work or even let me know and if i didnt check the schedule i wouldnt of turned up anyway
